That announcement followed a period of development hell for Dead Island 2, which was once in the works at Spec Ops: The Line maker Yager before Deep Silver parted ways with the studio in the summer of 2015.Īt the time, Yager said its vision for the game had "fallen out of alignment" with Deep Silver. The last time Dead Island owner Deep Silver piped up about the franchise was in March 2016, when the company announced UK studio Sumo Digital was making the zombie-killing sequel.
